What Is Nitrous Oxide Sedation?
We all know the importance of regular visits to the dentist when it comes to maintaining the health and appearance of your or your child's smile. However, many people struggle with anxiety related to dental treatments, which can make it difficult for them to receive the care they need. If you or your child have been avoiding appointments due to fear of the dentist, then we invite you to learn more about nitrous oxide (N2O) sedation at Say Cheeze Dental. Our practice in Apex, NC offers N2O sedation for complex dental procedures and to help individuals with dental fears and anxieties during regular checkups and exams. Nitrous oxide gas is a proven sedation method that can help you relax safely during your visit. Also called laughing gas, nitrous oxide is used by our team to help patients feel more relaxed while keeping them awake for their treatment. Set up a consultation at Say Cheeze Dental for more information on how we can make your experience more pleasant with nitrous oxide sedation.
What Can I Expect with Nitrous Oxide Sedation?
Nitrous oxide is administered at our office through a mask placed over the nose and/or mouth before treatment. As you or your child breathe in the gas, its effects will quickly create a calm, relaxed feeling. Throughout the treatment, a member of the Say Cheeze Dental staff will monitor your response to the gas, making adjustments as necessary. Patients receiving N2O sedation often notice a tingling sensation in the fingers or toes, as well as a feeling of warmth and euphoria. Nitrous oxide is usually used along with local anesthesia, such as lidocaine, to deaden sensation. When the procedure is done, the gas is turned off, and the effects will begin to fade immediately.
