Dental Crowns
in Apex, NC
What Are Dental Crowns?
Dental crowns are protective coverings placed over severely damaged or decayed teeth to seal off the compromised enamel and provide structure so patients can eat and speak comfortably. Our clinic is pleased to provide crown restorations to Apex, NC patients who want to restore the appearance and function of damaged teeth. Crown restorations are customized to match existing teeth and can be placed to treat fractured teeth, tooth decay, or teeth that may look oddly shaped. Crowns may also be melded into a unit to form a bridge or placed over dental implants to restore a tooth that is missing. Schedule a visit at Say Cheeze Dental to discover if a crown can enhance the quality of your smile.
What Can I Expect During My Dental Crown Procedure?
Crown treatments are performed over the course of two visits to our Apex, NC dental clinic. The first part of the treatment involves reshaping the affected tooth to ensure a natural-feeling fit for the finished restoration. During your visit, one of our highly trained dental experts will administer a local anesthetic (or nitrous oxide on request) before using specialized tools to remove some of the existing tooth enamel. Once that part is complete, we will use our clinic's advanced imaging equipment to take a digital impression of the tooth, which will be sent to a dental laboratory to use in crafting your custom crown. In the meantime, our office can provide a temporary crown to help maintain the tooth. You will need to visit Say Cheeze Dental about 7 – 14 days afterward so that you can have the temporary crown taken off and your new restoration connected to your tooth or dental implant post.
